Vice President of the RST: Russian business tourism market exceeded trillion rubles
As part of the "Travel" forum, the vice president of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry (RST) Dmitry Gorin noted that already a quarter of trips to Russia is accounted for by the business tourism sector, which amounts to 1.18 trillion rubles.
Among the main areas of activity in business tourism are: retail, oil and gas industry, pharmaceuticals, finance, mining industry, engineering, agriculture, etc. RST notes that the share of travel to Russia is 78% ( growth of 1.2%), and the average duration of business trips in Russia is 3.5 days. Foreign destinations for business trips include: China, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Belarus with an average duration of 5 days.
However, Gorin says that most of the expenses within the organization of trips are for purchasing air tickets - 53% of the total amount, and for booking accommodation - 20.8%. Gorin recalled that of the 92 million trips through Russia in 2025, 23 million are business trips, and this holds the potential of accommodation facilities and regions to generate revenue and taxes.
